Meals on Wheels Seeks Antiques – Upcoming Antiques Auction to Benefit Meal Delivery Program in Charlottesville/Albemarle

(Charlottesville, VA) Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle is soliciting donations for its upcoming antiques auction. The auction will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at 10:00am, at the Elks Lodge, located at 389 Elk Drive, just off Route 20, near Pantops. The preview will begin at 9:00am. Harlowe-Powell Auction Ltd., of Charlottesville, will provide an auctioneer. Successful bidders will need to take their items with them on the day of the event, since storage will not be available.

Anyone interested in donating antiques should call 434/245-7045, to receive information about pick-up or drop-off of their donation. Items should be “vintage” or older, and donations are tax deductible.

All proceeds from the auction will go directly to Meals on Wheels’ meal delivery program, operating throughout Charlottesville/Albemarle, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year. The auction comes at a time of critical need for Meals on Wheels, currently experiencing both an increase in demand for meals and a steep drop in donations from corporate and other funding sources. Meals on Wheels saw an 8% increase in demand for meals last year alone.

Further information on items to be featured in the auction will be available shortly, at http://www.cvillemeals.org
